a very hungry lunch box
it's back to school sewing season!
first up is maya who is starting kindergarten this year. after i saw this post from gail over at probably actually i decided to make her a lunch box.
the pattern is the love your lunch box design from gingercake patterns. between the iron on vinyl, tiny curved seams, and thermo-insulated batting this pattern was a fun learning experience.
but my favorite part of this project was my fabric selection. i have always love the very hungry caterpillar collection from andover, so much so that when i saw the polka dots at a store up in heldsburg i snatched up a yard despite my resolution to not buy more fabric.
the inside is lined with a coordinating print that i made into a vinyl and i think it is just too cute for words.
and those itty bitty side pockets? just too much fun.
i had some trouble deciding where to put the label. at first i thought the inside, but I didn't want to have unnecessary stitching on the vinyl. in the end i opted for the outside lower back corner.
stay tuned because i have four more back to school projects to share!
love,
aunt maggie
