hi, i'm maggie.

(like the rod stewart song)

i'm an elder millennial living in the bay area who loves dark beer, the environment, and sewing for the tiny humans in my life.

after a decade of sewing for other people’s daughters i knew sewing for my own would be fun…but i had no idea how much fun.

i made talia this oliver + s garden party dress out of seersucker i purchased from stonemountain and daughter in 2020, back when we were doing curbside pickup. in an attempt to get more use out of it i sized up to the 18 - 24 month size. i did the blouse length but added an inch, so while it’s a dress now, but will probably be a tunic soon.

as for alterations, I fully lined the back bodice and extended the neck opening by about an inch, a necessary adjustment to accommodate my child’s giant. finally instead of a thread chain i did a loop for the button.

the nice thing about seersucker, or at least this seersucker, is it looks good straight out of the wash. she has already worn this dress half a dozen times, including to a block party for the 4th of july, which is where i took these pictures.

love,

aunt maggie
