like many in the sewing world, i am on a constant quest to sew my stash. i've even gone so far as to proclaimed my desire to have less fabric all together, and consider myself am midway through a major two year fabric diet.
so today i'm going to share some of my favorite patterns for busting my stash.
happy 2016 everyone!
one of my favorite stores in the bay area, stonemountain & daughter, has declared 2016 to be the 'year of the indie pattern' and is kicking off #indiepatternmonth today. as a long time patron of independent pattern companies i love this.
let me say that again for emphasis: i love this.
i've previously extolled my love of oliver + s, the crown jewel of independent patterns, and expressed my goal to sew all their styles. but in the spirit of the new year i wanted to share some other indie sewing patterns that have caught my eye and i want to sew in 2016.
these skirts satisfy two of my sewing resolutions: busting my stash and sewing more patterns.
i was doing what i always do when planning a project: sitting cross legged on the floor, patterns on my right, stash on my left, a mason of a triple rock porter in front of me pulling together various combinations and seeing what might work. when i came across this pairing of a lightweight cobalt eyelet and the sunday brunch pattern from oliver + s i paused:
as i said yesterday one of my sewing goals for 2016 (and the rest of 2015) is to sew more patterns i haven't made before, specifically the oliver + s patterns. specifically the oliver + s patterns.
so i've talked about the two sewing resolutions i made myself in 2015: to have less fabric and to sew more knit fabric. a third resolution i'm giving myself for the rest of 2015 and for 2016 is to sew more patterns and styles.
yesterday i talked about my desire to have less fabric, which means i made one of my goals for 2015 to sew through all my good but not great fabric.
today i am going to talk about the other goal I set for myself in 2015: sew more knit fabric.
for 2015 i made myself two sewing resolutions. over a few posts i will share them as well as a third i'm adding for 2016.
my first resolution is to have less fabric.
crazy right?
